What is Halos?

Halos is an angel academy and investor syndicate that equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to become engaged and confident angel investors. The academy offers a comprehensive curriculum, expert instruction, community, and ongoing support to help participants excel in angel investing.

How do I become a member?

Whether you are an accredited investor, soon will be, or want to learn about angel investing, you can join Halos Academy for free. Fill out our 4-minute application, and we’ll follow up with details.

To join our syndicate, please fill out our KYC and interest form, and we’ll contact you with additional information (disclosures, fee schedule, etc.).

What topics are covered in the Academy?

Our curriculum covers various topics, including developing a thesis, investment strategies, startup evaluation, market analysis, risk management, and legal considerations. We also offer practical workshops and case studies to help you apply these concepts in real-world scenarios.

What is an investor syndicate?

An investor syndicate is a group of individuals who pool their resources to invest in small businesses and startups. Members joining the syndicate can participate in larger investment opportunities, share insights and expertise, and reduce individual risk.

I'm not an accredited investor. Can I still join?
Our investment opportunities within the Halos Investment Syndicate are open only to accredited investors. However, we recognize the importance of inclusivity and are actively working on developing programs and opportunities for unaccredited investors. In the meantime, you can still benefit from our educational resources, workshops, and community events offered through the Halos Angel Academy. Stay tuned for future updates as we expand our offerings to include unaccredited investors.
Can founders and entrepreneurs join the Academy?
Absolutely! The best way to ensure proper founder-investor-instrument alignment is for founders to understand their capital options. Additionally, understanding which investors are the best fit for the business can help ease miscommunication and misalignment of expectations.

How much does it cost to join Halos?

We conduct three (3) small cohorts annually, with a one-time fee of $799*. If you choose to join the syndicate, there are fees associated with it; however, academy fees are waived for syndicate investors. You may apply here.

*Please note that academy participants must complete an application and be approved. Once complete, you will receive lifetime access to screen recordings, office hours, our online community, events we host, and more. There are a limited number of scholarships available.

What are the benefits of joining the Halos Syndicate?
Joining the investor syndicate provides numerous benefits, including access to exclusive investment opportunities, a supportive network of fellow investors, and the ability to leverage collective knowledge and resources. Members also benefit from reduced individual risk and increased investment potential.
Who can join Halos Angel Academy?
Halos Angel Academy is open to anyone interested in learning about angel investing. Whether you are a seasoned investment professional or someone new to the investment world, our platform is designed to connect exceptional entrepreneurs with the right investment instrument and investor. We are particularly excited about working with individuals who want to get their hands a little dirty and support our portfolio companies with introductions, guidance and more.
Who can join Halos Investment Syndicate?
The Halos Investment Syndicate is currently open to both existing angel investors and graduates of Halos Angel Academy who are accredited investors and share our commitment to values and value-driven investing. If you are an experienced investor or have just completed our program, you are welcome to apply for membership in the syndicate. Additionally, we are working on opportunities for unaccredited investors to participate in investment opportunities.

Justin Dawkins

Halos Co-founder, Lead Instructor & Investor

Before Halos, Justin was the Georgia Google Digital for seven years, co-founded the social impact organization Goodie Nation, and the award-winning VC firm Collab Capital. As a digital coach, Justin educated nearly 6000 small businesses on leveraging digital tools, raising capital, and building operational capacity. At Goodie Nation, Justin sits on the board and is on a mission to fill the relationship gap. He led portfolio support at Collab while raising and deploying over $51M to Black founders.

Dr. Shadé Reid

Halos Co-founder & Healthcare Syndicate Co-lead

A seasoned Nurse Practitioner, Shadé founded HealthCares Group, offering consultancy and fractional services. She is now the Managing Director and Head of Platform for Hometown’s Comprehensive Life platform. With extensive healthcare and tech experience, she champions underrepresented founders and equitable, sustainable community-building in health tech.

Bryanna Marshall

Healthcare Syndicate Co-lead

An emergency nurse, Bryanna founded a maternal health company to connect expecting moms with community support. She has gained over 1,200 waitlisted users and launched an MVP. She has been accepted into rigorous incubators and was listed among the 25 Under 25 Atlanta Innovators. As an impact leader and mentor in the nursing industry, she is dedicated to introducing nurses to innovation.
